Felt is a textile material that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together. Felt can be made of natural fibers such as wool or animal fur, or from synthetic fibers such as petroleumbased acrylic or acrylonitrile or wood pulpbased rayon.Blended fibers are also common. Felt has special properties that allow it to be used for a wide variety of purposes.
In this felt making workshop, I will explain to you how, and why, wool felts and run through wool from the different breeds of sheep and other fibres available and most importantly how well (or how badly!) they felt. I will also cover the suppliers of wool and other fibres.
